The project EMOTICONI starts at the beggining of 2014 when I start to materialize the smiley emoticons that I have used in my personal messages on social networks. My idea was to produce my own "ready-made" material, and to create series of artworks that raise the question about our virtual reality (our ability to recieve emotions and different moods based on a simple keyboard), a new world that is happenning and created in our minds.
:) (2015)
Dimensions: 500 x 480 cm
eco leather, plywood, a sponge, video, tablet (for reading the triger)
A network instalation consisted of one circle shaped element (triger) and a seating stool made from the same material. The recipient must seat down to "read" the artwork with a tablet or a mobile phone. The moment the triger is read, the happy mood is created on top of the circle shaped element with the help of the augmented reality program instaled on the mobile device.
Synthesizing happiness, (2014)
Dimensions: variable
eco leather, plywood, a sponge
A floor instalation consisted of four 2d geometric forms of hormone molecules responsibile for happiness (Serotonin, Dopamina, Oxytocin, Endorphin ). The artwork Synthesizing happiness has 299 handmade elements, the number wich corresponds to the smiley-emoticons that I have used over the year 2014. By materialisation of the emoticons I rase the question whether over time we have lost the ability to feel the real emotion that stand behind the written/said, and whether the delayed online communication affect the sincerity and the reception of the emoticon in our brains, or maybe we all have innate ability to produce our own happiness.
