The project KOMUNIKABILI is a series of artworks created in the period from 2010 to 2014.

Starting from my own introvert nature, i.e my personal inability for open face-to-face communication with people, I was arised with a need to express myself through my works more clearly and extensively.

For that purpose, in the search for modified verbal communication, I chose the written word that I supplement, giving it a visual format.

I often use inspiring quotes from artists, writers, philosophers or simply excerpts from the social media I use in my constant quest for “Recipes for living”.

The choise of certain excerpts (thought) and idea is closely connected with the personal and sometimes, through someone else’s word I find my own definition and description of the current feeling.

KOMUNIKABILI  are artworks created – On Demand. (Need)

The final look of the art piece, the purity in the form of the letters and their color, reminds of a commercial advertisement to be used for attraction of someone’s attention and also to transfer the information.

The thin line between my art and the design and manufacturing is a reflection of our contemporeity. My work interwieves these styles, influence each other and gradually the line between the art and design disappears.

Using different media and combining different techniques (regardless of their type – artistic of manufacturing) have the purpose to furhter shape the final product – the created piece of art and the meta content it offers.

KOMUNIKABILI  are works that are excluded form the political, but not the social context.

First and foremost they have the purpose to influence the individual, the group, the society in an inspiring and metaphorical manner, and also to trigger a change that needs to begin in each and one of us.

Besides the conceptual, I believe that the experiatial and sensory experience of the work is essential. When one work influences several senses, occupy’s the recipient on a number of levels (layers) and thus crates the opportunity in imprinting a permanent impression and influence of change.

The use of the ready – found objects are in my area of interest even since the student years, so this project includes typography as one of extensively used ready-made.

I treat text as a work material that needs to be further materialized on different ways regarding the need that the concept of the work imposes. The manual work is underestimated in today’s era of industrialization and automatization, but for me it is very important  part of my work, since it helps me to be “present in the mater”.

The way of creation is most often repetitive and almost compulsive.

Often it implies adopting ceratin technique that is almost always new depending on the art work.

The manufacturing is a long process, so the awaiting of the final result inserts additional excitement and plays an important role in the maturing of the work.

I make the blueprints (skethes) for my works on a computer and I use existing fonts that mach the work the most. The placement in the exhibit space is defined at beginning of the process of creating (while working on the blueprints (sketches).)

The location and the placement are an integral part of the artwork and play an important role in the experiencing it .

I believe that a piece of art needs to be touched and felt, and not only seen.

The tactility of the work with its own composition/structure/materializam or other specifics is intended to include more senses (not only the sense of sight).

The artwork with its appearance attracts a touch, sometimes it lies, surprises, spreads an aroma, plays a sound or it simply is intended for consumption (including the senses of smell and taste, which in my opinion should not be overlooked when an artwork is perceived).

Compressed toughts (2013)

Dimensions: 190 x 20 x 20cm

Styrophoam

Instalation consisted of 27 typographical elements – sculpturaly placed tridimensional letters, clustered in five groups of letters (LIFE IS ABOUT CREATING YOURSELF).

The placement of the work is within the hight of sight, the clusters are 30 cm apart from each other and if observed carefully, one can read the ”written”.

The material of the construction of the letters is styrophoam on to which I apply a paper scheme of the letters in a font Arial Black (bold), The letters are hand cut and sandpapered.

The structure is made out fabricated (industrial) [MT1] styprophoam sold as “artificial snow” with high granuilation.

The letters of a word are piled on top of each other, arranged in five groups, i.e five words that together form the quotation.

Used quote: Life is about creating yourself- George Bernard Shaw

(copied from page.1)

The choice of a certain thought and idea is closely connected to the personal and sometimes through someone else’s words I fing my own definition and description of a current feeling.

White carpet

Dimensions: 1100 x 100cm

Fabric and grid.

A floor installation consisted of 24 hand made small rugs (carpets) in a shape of letters that form a text: No good deed goes unpunished.

Materials: white expandable fabric (1000x140cm) cut into strips 1 cm wide, 10cm long and tied in knots on a carpet grid.

The letters are in Palace Script MT (italic) font. On a carpet grid, I sketch out a letter and with a special needle I tie knots from previously prepared fabric strips on each square centimeter. At the end a certain letter is cut out.

The process of manufacture of the rugs is authentic and with traditional principal of creation in the folklore art, allowing an additional context during the perceiving of the work.

The letters are placed as a rug in front of the room’s entrance in order to “greet” a special welcome to the visitors. The rugs are perforated according to the shape of the letter, so they do not cover the floor completely (nothing can be hidden under the rug) thus walking on the rug, the feet are not completely isolated from the floor – the grounding dimension is present.

The rug is intended to be steped on (the title “White carpet” indicates that), but most of the visitors avoided steping on it.

Used quote: No good deed goes unpunished – questionalble author.

Doormat

Dimensions: 150 x 100cm.

Fabric and grid.

In AKSC (Authonomus Cultural Social Center) space, I separated and exhibited a segment, the word “Good” as an individual artwork under the name “Doormat”, placed centrally across the galery’s entrance.

Doormat

Somebody who is always walked all over

1. A mat placed before a doorway for wiping the shoes.

2. Slang One who submits meekly to domination or mistreatment by others.

Margins, Borders, Content

Dimensions: 450 x 300cm.

Fabric and grid.

In this work “Margins, Borders, Content”,the letters form an ellipces. In the center, a seating bench is placed (known ready-made object in an ownership of the gallery usually used for observation of the art work during an exhibition).

The title itself indicates a division and placement of the recepients. The work leaves a choice for the visitor: to be inside, outside or around the border of the ellipses. Each of the given choices carries it’s own responsibility: to be a part of the crowd and stay on the margins or to cross the border and to persevere in the circle where a symbolical essence is uncovered without the possibility to hide something

Expanding perspective

Dimensions: 500 x 120 x 30cm

A sponge, paint, metal, print.

A wall installation consisted of a central metal element (a tridimensional ready-made – a bus window opener in a 1:100 scale) and typographical elements made of colored sponge (written words EXPANDING OUR PERSPECTIVE).

The letters are made out of a sponge (1 cm thick), Calibri font (transformated to create an illusion of a perspective) and colored in a shade as the central metal element.

The magnified bus window opener is crafted by a welding of a metal sheet (1 mm thick). That way, the original material of the ready object is maintained.

Onto the the side handles of the bus window opener, I have applied magnified fingerprints (in a scale of 1:100) using screen printing, that amplifies their function its function.

Under the metal object, I have placed centrally the word OUR (made out of sponge) in red color.

The center of the work is the element where all begins and ends. All answers origin from there. It helps us not to loose our selves in the changes and challenges we face constantly, and serves us as invariable sense of identity.

The perspective is essential for us to know where we are headed, not to strain from the path we walk.

Our perspective directly influences each decision that we make, and thus our lives. When we expand our perspective, we change the complete perception (percievment) of the world around us. The intent is to see the beauty in the people and in all that surrounds us. There is always a chance for a fresh air when the window can be opened.

TA-BOOOOOOO!

Dimensions: 1000 x 40cm.

Combined mediums.

The members of MOMI express their own point of view on a given subject - “Taboo”, using an individual and recognizable expression and medium which given with the severity of the subject is awarded with a comical note.

The material that I use is melted plastic that I use to write down a text that expresses my own taboo.

BOOOOOOOLI

Dimensions: 1000 x 40cm.

Combined mediums

In the space of AKSC (Authonomus Cultural Social Center), along with the group MOMI, we exhibited our joint art work “TA-BOOOOOOO!”, but this time under the name “BOOOOOOOLI”, because the exhibited art works are damaged during their transportation. Since we cound not have influenced this occurance, we introduce a realistic-comical moment in the testimony on “The life of an artwork”.

Fresh oxygen containers

Materials: plastic bottles, thread, piece of paper

Interactive work consisted out of 24 elements that contain different “essential” message.

The symbollicaly presented fruits that contain apstract content written on a piece of paper in a form of a single word, allow the recipient to make an individual choice and take away a pice of the artwork with them.

The location and the immanence of the material introduces a conceptual multilayer, keeping the original function (packadging) but of a completely different “product”.
